CHICAGO STEAM NAMES GM/HEAD COACH

Chicago-Steam
Chicago, IL.  The ABA Chicago Steam has named former Bradley University star and assistant coach Willie Scott as its new head coach and general manager.  A first team All-Defensive All-American at Hillsdale College, Scott transferred to Bradley, where he led the team to an NIT Championship in 1982 and he also played professional  basketball in Canada, Europe and Argentina.
Scott was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Bradley from 2010-12 and most recently was the head coach this past season at Dyett High School in Chicago leading the team to a 19-10 record, its best performance in seven years.
“I am honored and very excited to become the new head coach and GM of the Steam,” said Scott.  “I thank Ron Hicks for choosing me over many candidates who I know would love the opportunity.  This organization has been up and running for five seasons and ranked in the Top 5 ABA teams in the country.  So, to be a part of this great establishment is a blessing and I look forward to working for the Steam.  My goal is to make sure the players have a great experience and win championships.”
“We are very happy to have Willie as the new GM and head coach,” added Hicks.  “He brings a ton of basketball experience to the Steam andalso was a great player at King, Bradley and the pros.  I feel he will do a great job with these young men.  The Steam plays its home games at South Suburban College in South Holland…for more information, visit www.chicagosteambasketball.com or visit www.abalive.com.
